Eric and I are starting the fun and horrific ordeal of remodeling. We bought a little place at the Hamilton in the Tenderloin on the 16th floor. Huge views and a killer garden terrace (one of only four in the building) keep the carrot swinging in front of us as we begin our adventure.
So, I asked my clients who just remodeled their own kitchen for some quick advice. Here are their helpful hints:
- Do the floor before the cabinets
- Open shelves are super-cool and way cheaper than all cabinets
- If you like tile, try Heath Ceramics seconds room--amazingly good prices, though you should go with an open mind about design and or color
- Make sure your stove gas outlet/shutoff valve are precisely configured for how you want things arranged before you do anything else that might get in the way
- Don't delay in doing the lighting
Thank you Camellia and Alek!
